Gregory Speaks for Bucu West Development Association Holiday Celebration

GregTGregory Tanner will be speaking tonight for the Bucu West Development Association Holiday Celebration .   The celebration will be held at MGM’s Lounge 4801 Morrison Road, Denver, CO 80219.  He will be speaking about his personal story of growing up in our neighborhood, why we should invest in our community, and his interest in helping young entrepreneurs. This event is free thanks to the support of The Denver Foundation, Denver Enterprise Zone, and Denver Office of Economic Development.

Greg grew up in our neighborhood and is a graduate of Lincoln High School and swam for the Lancers.  He went on to college at University of New Mexico where he swam and played Rugby for the Lobos.  He went on to play rugby in the Rugby Super League.   He founded his first successful company out of a garage which went on to become one of the most successful IT companies in the U.S.  He currently manages Aspen Capital Fund which owns over 35 companies throughout the west. Aspen Capital Fund leads investment for Champions Rugby

Aspen Capital Fund announced today it is the lead investor in Denver based Champions Rugby ( on it’s A round of fundraising.  Champions Rugby is developing a model to build a nationally recognized professional Rugby league in the United States.   Champions Rugby is currently building the operational model, organizing team ownership and completing it’s financing to begin formalizing the league.   The management team of Champions Rugby is forming what will be the answer to the professional question in USA Rugby.

Denver, Colorado, Aspen Capital Fund announced today that it is a sponsor of the 2014 CineLatino Film Festival in Denver, Colorado.  The festival features films celebrating Latin American culture, and the contribution of Latinos in the world of Cinema.

The festival will take place September 25-28 at the Denver Film Society’s Sie Film Center. Ten titles over the four days are scheduled to give audiences an interesting taste of Latin American and Latino-American cinema. Titles include Water & Power, produced by Edward James Olmos and the attendance of Richard Montaya the film’s director, also featured is Who is Dayani Cristal starring Gael Garcia Bernal as well as Frontera, starring Eva Longoria, Michael Pena and Ed Harris. Aspen Capital Fund calls for Hispanic Tech Startups for Venture Capital Data Project

Aspen Capital Fund is looking for startups with a technical focus, founded by or owned by Hispanics for a project that Aspen Capital Fund is commissioning.   The focus of the project is to collect data on the Hispanic and Latino Venture Capital markets. The goal of the project is to shine light on a fast growing segment in the United States that has previously gone unrecognized.   The project is managed by Gregory Tanner and data collection and analysis by Kai Thompson of Aspen Capital Fund.   The findings and report will be published in September 2014.

“We have some data based on our business, but we wanted to extend our data points to a national level and include some correlation, and analysis of that data.” comments Gregory Tanner.    “Committing a resource like Kai Thompson allows us to really focus on details and analysis.”  Kai Thompson is currently an intern with ACF Ventures and is a junior at the University of San Francisco, studying Finance and accounting. Data will be compiled over the next few months and will be available in September.

Some of the spirit behind the study comes from the partnership for a new American economy. The study provides strong data on Hispanic entrepreneurship in the United States.  The study is collaboration between The Partnership for a new American Economy and The Latino Donor Collaborative. Aspen Capital Fund specifically focuses on early stage Minority owned startups that are focused in the Hispanic consumer or business to business markets.  Data that will be collected follows these types of businesses.
