WASHINGTON D.C. — On behalf of the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC), our Board of Directors, and the Hispanic-owned business community, we are writing to express urgency for an American economic recovery, part of this must include a sound presidential transition.

The USHCC actively promotes the economic growth, development, and interests of more than 4.7 million Hispanic-owned businesses that aggregately contribute over $800 billion to the American economy every year. We also serve as a platform for our nationwide network of over 250 local Hispanic chambers of commerce.

We are at a critical point right now as COVID-19 continues to devastate small Hispanic-owned businesses across the country. It is extremely important for the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) to recognize the results of the 2020 presidential election and allow the new administration to get to work and onto our joint American economic recovery. Hispanic businesses can’t afford a drop off between administrations. Each day that passes, the transition team is lacking the necessary information to help all minority businesses to survive, what is expected to be a very difficult winter. So many of our businesses were systematically omitted from the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), which is why it is even more important for the new administration to find ways to better serve our community. The USHCC believes that democracy has taken its course and all Americans deserve a transition that is worthy of our democratic process and the multiple possibilities for the reestablishment of our economic vibrancy.
